  1. I think that it may need to be cooked for a bit longer than what you were instructed, like a gas cook top cooks a bit differently to an electric one etc.

    Don't worry,I was that hopeless at school because I scraped through at around 50% for most the time if I didn't fail a test,so they thought that I was like that.

  4. It's ok this is real life your strainer holes were too small for girl whisk sometimes it doesn't even matter but I don't think you worked your batter enough before you decided to throw the water in. Never feel bad flour is evil

  8. The Japanese have the exact same pastry/snack. They call it Taiyaki. It's very commonly found as street food in Japan and they make them with all kinds of filling, but anko (not sure if that's the real spelling) AKA sweetened red bean paste, is the most common. And yes, the finished product is supposed to look like an Asian carp.
    How the street vendors in Japan seem to make it is they pour the batter (similar to pancake batter) into EACH side of the fish mould, and drop a small amount of the red bean paste to just one side. I think if you do it that way, the batter should be fully cooked through. 🙂

  9. I think the fail was due to the electric burner. You are probably getting less efficient heat diffusion.
    I wouldn’t really worry about the batter. You need more/less water for batters depending on your source of flour and the humidity. Needing to add more liquid is normal.
