After watching Maanchi’s Korean Honey Butter Chicken recipe, I HAD to make a vegan version. Luckily, we have lots of experience making vegan honey, using vegan butter, and crafting vegan chicken here on Mary’s Test Kitchen!

Sweet buttery sauce envelopes crispy vegan ‘chicken’ and pumpkin seeds for a crunchy, indulgent treat. This version bumps up the garlic flavour and includes your choice of lemon juice or vinegar to balance the sweetness.

  1. You are amazing, the best! This looks amazing as always! The crunch when you bit into it made me want it right now, lol. I cannot wait to get a deep fryer (we stopped using oil for a couple of years but now back frying yummies in shallow pans), so we can easily make crunchy goodness like this!

  3. I'm sorry but is anyone able to help me?? I just can't find medium firm or traditional Tofu anywhere!!! Is it possible to make it at home?

  4. ๐Ÿ˜€ I tried something a little different and it turned out really well! I did pretty much the same thing but I switched some steps around. I did not put the tofu directly into the freezer, I squeezed out the liquid (this only works with extra-firm tofu; NOT med-firm) and put it into a container with stock/broth – then froze it twice. This allowed me to drain and cook right away with the flavours already in there ๐Ÿ™‚ Yummy! Thk U!

    It's high in protein, flavorful and delicious, just what I need!

  9. Iโ€™m loving this Mary. Mostly coz i donโ€™t like the dairy smell of butter and honey sold in stores in my part of the world are mostly fake and overpriced sugar syrup. So that said if you want a more honeyist flavor please try korean brown rice malt syrup. That taste bomb just like honey but no real honey anywhere in it. It also gets stickier than agave or maple. Whenever i make tasty food, they tend to disappear before i got a chance to snap a pic. So consider this recipe made, done & eaten/stolen๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ‘
